St. Bonaventure University Students in Money Management (SIMM) is an experiential learning program in which students manage a real investment portfolio of over $400 thousand.

What are we?

What will you learn?

  • Equity Valuation: Participants will understand techniques such as DCF, technical analysis, and multiple valuations to evaluate securities

  • Equity Research:  Students gain proficiency through the use of the Bloomberg Terminal, and the thinkorswim trading platform.

  • Presentation Skills:  When giving a pitch, students are required to present in front of the entire class, which is made up of 30-40 students every semester. Students in the audience are encouraged to ask questions concerning why the suggested stock is beneficial to the fund.

  • Communication Skills: Every class, students work in groups to report on performances of current Equity Fund holdings, as well as giving extensive updates during earnings season and through semi-annual reports.

Anyone! Not only finance majors but students of all majors are welcome to join (yes! non-business majors too). This helps offer a wide variety of perspectives to the classroom.
